Canada's Cup Day Two

The first warning signal is scheduled for 11:00am EST every morning.

With day one and the wind in the 15 - 16 kts range, day two wasn’t off to the best start with winds at around 3kts, at the start time of 11:00 am.

The teams were bobbing around waiting, under their sun cover over the mast, they stayed hydrated and snacked, while keeping their head in the game.

We went by both Defiant and Zing to see how they were doing with the delay.

Then we met up with Allan Megarry and Jamie Keating, co-organizers to see what they felt about the first day of racing.

With around 25 - 30 spectator boats out, waiting also, there was the practice of the air show for this weekend, with fighter jets, the Snowbirds, and this beauty giving all something to watch while waiting for more wind.

The start time was pushed, and pushed, and finally around 2:30pm, the first race began. Getting one race in, RCYC took the win, toting up a 5 - 0 lead over Zing

Both Canada’s Cup teams are really enjoying themselves, and Zing has felt so welcomed by the Club and Members, that they’re all in for the fun that they’re having, racing against another IC37. The advantage that RCYC has with having two boats is evident, as with just one more race, Team RCYC will have defended the cup in this 2021 regatta and race.

Here is what the skippers of the boats had to say after they came in.
