The Canada’s Cup 2021 A team - Part 2

As the flags flew and the National Anthems were played, the start of the Canada’s Cup finally became a reality. Four years in the works with co-organizers, Allan McGeary and Jamie Keating have set the stage, the tone and the intention of the 2021 Canada’s Cup.

The friendly competition vibe has been set along with Allan’s visions of fairness, transparency and accessibility for this Canada’s Cup. That includes the multi-gender crew, having a junior on board, and the owners Paul L’Heureux (Defiant), David Howard and John Hele (Vigilant) involved the whole Club and many Members got a chance to sail on the IC37s this summer.

The remaining team members shared their thoughts about training, what they learned and what they do to prepare:

Ingrid Merry is in the pit and offside jib trimmer.

Scott Collinson is on the mainsheet trimmer.

Sandy Andrews is on the bow.

We did miss Andrew Kenny, representing a youth sailor on Defiant, who had to dash off before we could capture his thoughts. Look out for that interview in another blog.

Look out for live video of the first day’s racing on @teamrcyc on Instagram and they will be posted to YouTube and a daily blog too.

Go team RCYC! You’ve got this.
