Programs

Saturday Group Swimming Program

The RCYC Saturday Swimming Program will provide group lessons for various levels. There will be a maximum of four children per group with one instructor. A minimum of two participants is required to run the program.

Levels are as follows: 
 
Fall & Spring
Levels 1-4 | 10:40 am – 11:20 am (4 spots)
Levels 5-7 | 10:40 am – 11:20 am (4 spots)
Levels 8-10 | 10:40 am – 11:20 am (4 spots)
Rookie/Ranger/Star* | 12:00 pm – 12:40 pm (4 spots)
*must have completed level 10
 
Winter
Levels 1-5 | 10:40 am – 11:20 am (4 spots)
Levels 6-10 | 10:40 am – 11:20 am (4 spots)
Rookie/Ranger/Star* | 11:40 am – 12:20 pm (4 spots)
* must have completed level 10

Parent & Tot Program

The Parent & Tot Program is designed to introduce children between 6 months and 3 years old to aquatic environments. Offered on Saturdays or Sundays. 
 
The Parent and Tot Program is offered in 2 levels:
  1. Beginner: 6 months – 1.5 years old
  2. Advanced: 1.5 - 3 years old
SATURDAYS
Advanced Parent and Tot: 9:00 am – 9:30 am  
Beginner Parent and Tot: 9:30 am – 10:00 am

Certifications

Bronze Medallion / Emergency CPR B

Must be at least 13 years of age, or have successfully completed Bronze Star. The cost includes a Canadian Lifesaving Manual and certification fee.

Bronze Medallion teaches an understanding of the lifesaving principles embodied in the four components of water-rescue education –judgment, knowledge, skill and fitness. Rescuers learn tows and carries, and defense methods and releases in preparation for challenging rescues of increased risk involving conscious and unconscious victims of various types. Lifesavers develop stroke efficiency and endurance in a 500 m timed swim. Bronze Medallion is recognized as the waterfront supervisory certification for Ontario's Recreational Camp Regulation 568.

Bronze Cross

Must have successfully completed Bronze Medallion and Emergency First Aid with CPR B. The cost includes the certification fee.

Bronze Cross is designed for lifesavers who want the challenge of more advanced training including an introduction to safe supervision in aquatic facilities. Bronze Cross is a prerequisite for all advanced training programs including National Lifeguard and Instructor certification. Includes a timed 600 m swim. Bronze Cross is recognized as an assistant lifeguard certificate in Ontario Regulation 565 governing public swimming pools.
