Members and their guests are invited, and strongly encouraged, to embrace the spirit and intent of the Club's Dress Code. Members are responsible for advising their guests of the RCYC Dress Code and for their guests respecting this Code.

Please note that the RCYC Dress Code applies to children age ten and over. Children aged nine and under should wear neat and clean clothes.

Dress Code:

  • No ripped, distressed or unclean clothing
  • No apparel shorter than mid-thigh (extremely short hemlines are not permitted)
  • No low-riding pants
  • No athletic tank tops or muscle shirts
  • No bare feet, wetsuits, or swimwear
  • No attire displaying crude jokes, expletives, lewd slogans or racist and demeaning content
  • No hats, save for ladies' dress hats, may be worn in either Clubhouse

Special events, including regattas, may provide exceptions to select restrictions or set an event-specific requirement.

Athletic clothing is permitted:

City Clubhouse:
  • Galley, Crown and Beaver Bar, Chart Room, and upper floors.

Island Clubhouse:

  • Colonel Ovens Room, Sailors' Bar, and on the east side of the Verandah.
  • In the more casual, private areas of the Island from the pool house and beyond.
  • Lawn bowlers and tennis players may also wear their whites on the Launch.

Please note: The Dress Code for the Island goes into effect starting from Sailpast day until the morning after Last Mast Blast.

If any dress code violations are violated by Members or guests, Senior Management and Quartermasters are authorized to deny access to the Launch and both Clubhouses.
