Message from Commodore Mitchele: Cornerstone Project Approval

There was a high level of attendance at our 165th Annual General Meeting on Monday evening. I am pleased to announce that the Cornerstone Project was approved.

It has been very good to hear input from so many Members over the last 16 months and it has helped shape the project.  I'd like to thank everyone who made their voices heard through the process.  At the meeting, we had 359 Members in attendance and 225 Members represented by proxy.  After a healthy and respectful debate, 85% of the vote was in favour of the project.

As we proceed, updates on the progress of the Cornerstone Project, including construction timelines and any disruptions that may be experienced as a result of the work that will begin shortly, will continue to be shared with you through Hiawatha and other communication vehicles.  We welcome all Members to continue the dialogue as these plans materialize.  It is our ambition to accommodate as many opinions as possible; we are a Club with a wide range of viewpoints and expertise and it is our diversity that will make us all successful.

This is an exciting time for all of us – Members and Staff – and a wonderful progression towards the goal of creating a sustainable Club for years to come.

RCYC is embarking on The Cornerstone Project to restore, improve and build upon the amenities and services the Club currently provides and will continue to provide to all Members and their families for years to come.

Cornerstone Project renovations began shortly after the project was approved by RCYC's Membership at the 2017 Annual General Meeting.

As Cornerstone Project renovations proceed, updates will be provided on the work underway, and the impact to Members twice per month.
