Toronto's Premier Club for Sailing, Racquets, and Social Life

Since 1852, the Royal Canadian Yacht Club (RCYC) has been Canada’s home for sailing, sport, and social connection. Today, we’re one of Toronto’s premier private clubs—offering world-class sailing programs, tennis and squash, waterfront dining, family events, and unforgettable views of the city skyline.

We’ve grown alongside Toronto, evolving from eight sailing enthusiasts into a vibrant community of 3,500+ Members, two Clubhouses (including our iconic Island Clubhouse), seven dining venues, and a legacy unlike any other in Canada.

Your RCYC Membership gives you the best of both worlds: a summer escape on the Island and a year-round city home. From keelboat racing and junior sailing camps to wine dinners, fitness classes, and international regattas—this is a Club where tradition meets adventure.

We’re thrilled to extend a royal welcome to everyone who shares our love of sport, storytelling, and sunsets on the water.

Where Friends become Family

Our story, passed through generations of RCYC sailors, tells us that, sometime in the early 1850s, a small group of eight Torontonians seated themselves on flour barrels to discuss forming a local sailing Club. Today, that same spirit that brought them together persists in our community, united by its passion for the sport.

Whether you’re an experienced sailor or looking to learn the ropes, a fan of racquet sports or lawn bowling, or simply looking for a dazzling social calendar, our Club offers camaraderie on and off the water.

Our Story

One Membership, two homes

Built in 1922, the Island Clubhouse is your escape on the lake from May through October. The grandest wooden structure in Toronto and the scene of countless balls, banquets and memories, the Island Clubhouse boasts the finest views of the city skyline. Simply put? You haven’t seen summer in Toronto until you’ve experienced it with friends and family from the Verandah.

At your City Clubhouse—located right next to the St. George subway station in the Annex—you’ll find fun and activities all year round. Our 5,000-square-foot Fitness Centre is home to one of the largest, most competitive racquets offerings in Canada, in addition to exercise options for Members of any skill level. In between workouts and tournaments, it’s where we gather for fine and casual dining, trivia nights, gala events, kids’ movie days, holiday feasts, and so much more.
