ATHLETE DEVELOPMENT FUND (ADF)

Thank you, on behalf of all RCYC athletes, for your continued support!

With over 90% of Club Members contributing to the Athlete Development Fund (ADF), formerly the Corinthian Fund, we're setting the stage for further improvements as our Club is represented at all levels of competition.

At the 2019 Pan Am Games in Lima, Peru: Congratulations to Justin Barnes who came home with a Bronze Medal and qualified Canada for the Olympics in Tokyo 2020!  RCYC sent a strong team to the event with representatives in many classes to represent our Club and country. Please note the athletes below marked with an asterisk.

Looking ahead to the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, a sincere thank you to Members who supported this spring’s Power and Performance Ball which raised thousands of dollars towards the ADF. For the Fall 2019 and Spring 2020 rounds, ADF disbursements will be primarily focused on supporting our athletes in their final push for the Olympics.

For the Spring 2019 round of applications, the ADF Committee is pleased to share our congratulations to the following individual athletes who are being supported to advance their training and development goals (click on their names for latest reports as they come in this summer):

WHAT IS THE ADF AND WHO CAN APPLY?

The ADF Committee, led by Tim Bishop (Chair), David Jarvis and Justin Quigg, manages an online funding request system each Spring and Fall. This allows for athlete, Club, coach and Fund planning to be Member-led, transparent, objective, consistent and manageable.

We’re proud to have supported hundreds of athletes over the years who have been evaluated based on the following criteria:
  1. Participation in a Recognized ISAF Class
  2. Demonstrable Financial Need & Logistics
  3. Perceived Merit, Commitment & Professionalism
  4. Performance & Comprehensive Training Plans
  5. Support of the Greater Good for Team Expenses

As a condition of receiving ADF funding, applicants are advised that they are required to:
  1. Express Appreciation: Provide a 100-word thank you to Club Members
  2. Demonstrate progress: Submit short development reports outlining your progress each term of funding
  3. Be engaged: provide coaching, attend social events and be visible around the Club

Thank you again to all Members for your continued support!
