As a year-round yacht club, RCYC works to provide sailing opportunities for our Members during
the colder months. Our Fall and Winter programs range from workshops that foster skill development and certifications to creating wind in our pool for indoor sailing.

RC Racing in the Pool

After several successful winters, midweek races will continue with the remote-controlled
Dragon Force 65s this season. Members compete in heats of 4 to 6 boats, powered by multiple fans in our City Club pool.
  • 10+ boats racing each week leads to exciting competition
  • All skill levels welcome as sailors and spectators
  • Racing continues through to Spring 2018

Get an early start on developing your child’s love for sailing! Introduce your family to the sport in a fun and safe environment before they’re old enough for Junior Club.

Cruising Sailors’ Squadron Seminars

The CSS organizes several talks with sailors sharing their unique experiences, as well as experts speaking on important safety and boat handling procedures.

​Certification Courses

Pleasure Craft Operator’s Card (PCOC)
Earn your proof of competency to operate a powered vessel in Canada, including any sailboat with a motor. With this short classroom course and exam covering boating laws, safety and more, boaters will keep this valid certification for life.

VHF Radio License (ROC-M)

To legally operate a VHF Radio, boaters must take one course to achieve your Restricted Operator’s Certificate – Maritime. Over just a few hours, practice emergency radio procedures and everyday operating techniques including Digital Selective Calling (DSC) and Global Maritime Distress and Safety System (GMDSS).
