ADF Update: Colin Davies

My name is Colin Davies and the class of boat I currently compete in is the Laser Radial. I am a member of the Ontario Sailing Team and we are just concluding the busiest time of our sailing season with a schedule packed with regattas as well as intensive training camps.

I have just finished the 2019 ILCA Laser Radial Youth World Championships held in Kingston, Ontario where I faced challenging conditions against an experienced international fleet of 159 sailors representing 30 different countries. Over the six days of tough racing I accomplished my goal of making Gold Fleet finishing in 53rd place and was the 4th Canadian sailor. Additionally earlier

this summer I had the opportunity to travel to Chicago to race in the 2019 Laser Great Lakes Championship where I finished in 3rd place. Here I faced extremely light wind conditions and unfortunately we were only able to complete 2 races.

Looking forward, I continue to train diligently in preparation for the Sail Canada Youth Championships, which takes place in Kingston from August 13th to 16th. I would like to take this opportunity to thank the Athlete Development Fund and the members of RCYC as your ongoing support helps me attend these events which are a very beneficial part of my training and progress.
