ADF Update: Andreas Koechli

Hello, my name is Andreas Koechli and this year I am being funded by the Athletes Development Fund (ADF) as an RCYC Optimist Race Team member.

I have been sailing on the Optimist Race Team for three years now, so I have a decent amount of experience. This year I participated in the well known regatta at our Yacht Club, the Lake Skiff Sailing Association (LSSA). There were 12 of 32 from the RCYC with 7 placing in the top half.

We race 5 races and received one drop race. The air was very light and shifty and favored lighter crews. I placed 14th overall out of 32 boats. I hope to do better at my next regatta and place at least in the top 7. The winner of the competition was Thomas Deroches from PCYC finishing with only 8 points.

As an RCYC Member and sailor I am thankful that I have the ADF committee and all the members who supported me this year. I am really lucky to be a member of this Club.
