ADF Update: Phoebe Tufts

This is my first year of racing on the RCYC C420 Race team. Going into grade 11 this fall, I am using my summer to improve skippering and communication skills with my talented crew Cate. I’ve been sailing ever since I was little on my grandmother's boat, Capilano, at RCYC. I enjoyed my summers spent at Junior Club. Though new to racing, I have thoroughly enjoyed the regattas and races this year.

Our first regatta of the season, Icebreakers at TS&CC, was my first ever first-place finish, and since then the season has been going really well. We had a second-place finish at Lilac, a third at National and an eighth at Sarnia Yacht Club out of 50 boats! I am truly grateful for the friends, support, and skills I have learned this summer. I am looking forward to representing RCYC in the final two Grand Prix Regattas. In the future, I hope to coach young racers to develop their love of sailing.

In closing, I would like to acknowledge my appreciation for the support from the ADF Fund which helped me to pay for some important entry fees! Thank you so much.

Here, our ADF Athletes will share the short articles on racing, training and their development goals.
